Well it is time to re-connect to that gas line. The gas main runs down the middle of the street. Our old connection was on the north side of the property – that connection is capped. It makes more sense to have the gas meter next to the south side of the house, and have the gas line go straight out to the street. So we are having (i.e paying) the gas company (Southern California Gas Company) dig up the street and put in a new line and gas meter. The gas supplies the gas range (cooktop), tankless hot water, radiant heating, wall heaters, wall heaters, clothes dryer, barbeque and patio stub.

Polyethylene gas pipes are lightweight, non-corrosive, available in coil lengths, and easy to install by heat fusion or mechanical fittings. For these reasons, they have been proven and used since the 1960’s. Medium density PMDPE yellow gas pipe is suitable for fuel gas use in multiple applications for gas distribution.
